TRIPLEZERO.FR ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS

1. Is there a difference (apart from the practical aspect and the weight) as regard to the temperature use between the FL and the SF models ?

2. I would like to know the comfort and limit temperatures of these sleeping bags, especially the lightest versions with side fastening

3. For which use do you recommend the BARBAT 1100 ?

4. What are the extra weights for the ASTAZOU 500 and 800 in size L ?

5. What is the price for washing for a mountain product ?

6. I am afraid to be allergic to down

7. I'd like to know how the thermo-insulation is made at the level of the down edge-band fastening against the zip, or other ( double fastening on the GRAND BARBAT, I think)

8. I'm thinking of ordering two Grand Barbat 700 FL sleeping bags. I suppose that these sleeping bags can be combined, but this would means that they are both of the same size.

9. I begin to make "polar" hike in Lapland. Hike of fortnight, without refuge (it is important because we never have the possibility "to thaw" our equipments)!
Last year, I left to Christmas ( almost continuous night) with a sleeping bag C. (D. 6: -40 °). It was time to finish the hike, because the last 3 days my bag was completely frozen inside and had become a freezer.
In brief,is the respirabilité of your sleeping bags sufficient to avoid the frost of the perspiration in feathers ?

1. Is there a difference (apart from the practical aspect and the weight) as regard to the temperature use between the FL and the SF models ?

For the BARBAT, there is no difference between the FL and the SF, due to the double fastening.
For the ASTAZOU, there is one, the SF is better insulated.

2. I would like to know the comfort and limit temperatures of these sleeping bags, especially the lightest versions with side fastening

We do not give temperatures for 2 reasons: the tests are carried out at positive temperatures, then acts by extrapolation, and because they are carried out in controlled atmosphere, temperature, moisture with a static dummy. According to  my customers one is often disappointed by the temperatures given by the brands, comfort, extreme…
We prefer to reason in accordance with the use, for example in expedition, the GRAND BARBAT is more efficient than the PETIT ASTAZOU, especially over the duration because it is more compartmented (51 compartments as opposed to 27 compartments for the ASTAZOU).
The ANSABERE (14 compartments) was conceived for more limited uses.
In laboratory tests with equal garnishing the three will have the same performance but on the ground the difference is obvious.
For example in the BARBAT range, the 900 is what one calls a -30°C, the 700 a -20°C.
For example in the ASTAZOU range the 1000 is what one calls a -30°C, the 800 a -20°C.
In the ANSABERE range, the 400 would be a 0/-5°C, the 600 a -10°C and the 800 a -20°C.

3. For which use do you recommend the BARBAT 1100 ?

The BARBAT 1100 is the extreme expedition bag, more is not necessary.
It is the bag for extreme temperatures.

4. What are the extra weights for the ASTAZOU 500 and 800 in size L ?

In size L, the extra weight is 66g. for the 500.
In size L, the extra weight is 90g. for the 800.

5. What is the price for washing for a mountain product ?

For mountain products, the first wash is free, and it will cost 15€/product + postage thereafter.

6. I am afraid to be allergic to down

The problems of allergy are complex. For years I conducted visits in my down workshop . Many visitors feared the visit claiming to be allergic. An hour later they did not have any reaction although they were surrounded by feathers.
However the allergy is a reality. Lately, I have seen 1 or 2 cases per year. These people enter then leave the premises instantly.
This means that in the majority of the cases one is not allergic to the feather, but to the dust which goes with it, or to chemicals or whatever, perhaps to non existant quality.
In my work I do my very best to preserve the natural properties of the down, without denaturing it.

7. I'd like to know how the thermo-insulation is made at the level of the down edge-band fastening against the zip, or other ( double fastening on the GRAND BARBAT, I think)

On the ASTAZOU, there is a 175cm zip. There is no protection edge-band but a system of two preformed edge-bands which press up against each other, thus garanteeing water and air tightness.
On the BARBAT, it's a double zip system that provides perfect tightness.

8. I'm thinking of ordering two Grand Barbat 700 FL sleeping bags. I suppose that these sleeping bags can be combined, but this would means that they are both of the same size.

All the GRAND BARBAT and PETIT ASTAZOU are combinable, whatever their sizes.
Just let us know "left and right", in relation to one's right or left hand-side when lying on one's back in the sleeping bag.
In theory the closing is on the left for the right-handed people, and on the right for the left-handed.

In brief,is the respirabilité of your sleeping bags sufficient to avoid the frost of the perspiration in feathers ?

The principle of the heat insulation by the down is based on the circulation of the air, from the source of heat which represents the body. The heat stays in the volume of down and the air circulates towards the outside, evacuating the humidity of the perspiration, the being ideal that a halo of heat spreads around the sleeping bag. To obtain this result, best is that the down is closer of the source of heat, the body, by avoiding at most the intermediate layers and that the respirabilité of the fabric is sufficient to evacuate the humidity while remaining downproof. The ideal value that we retained is of 9 liters/m ˛/sec ( industrial standard). If the humidity is not enough evacuated we have the effect ice cube. It is the story of the himalayiste who to save up of the weight take a strong refuse bag to sleep. That works because the warm air is retained, but there is a moment the cold return (approximately 1 hour) and there finished ice cube. To date, even in the most extreme conditions we have never observed this effect with our products. Attention, there is also a condensation which stays in a tent or a too tight sursac which can saturate the air, preventing the evacuation of the perspiration and arrive at the ice cube effect. It is the reason that we advise always to well ventilate .
